Domestic heating specialist Trianco is expecting orders for its Activair air source heat pumps to rise after gaining vital accreditation.

Chapeltown-based Trianco has won approval from the Microgeneration Certification Scheme, which means people installing Activair heat pumps will be eligible for a range of Government-backed incentives, including the current Renewable Heat Premium Payment and the new Renewable Heat Incentive, which is expected to be introduced next year.

Air source heat pumps work on the same principle as refrigerators. While refrigerators keep cool by transferring heat from inside to outside and disperse it through cooling fins, air source heat pumps extract heat from the air outside and work even when the air temperature is as low as -15°C.
