Build mental toughness, cope with stress, create effective teams and control emotions - a sports pscyhologist is promising to show how techniques from sport can help in business, at the Grand Depart International Business Festival in Sheffield on Thursday and Friday.
The ‘Performing Under Pressure’ talk by Ian Maynard of Hallam University is one event on a packed roster which includes an Innovation Expo featuring a 400m sprint contest. The university is also hosting seminars on exploring virtual reality with prosthetics.
The festival at the English Institute of Sport is expected to attract major international investors, customer and suppliers. It has been organised by UK Trade & Investment and Marketing Sheffield, part of the city council.
Mark Robson of UKTI said: “The Grand Depart provides a fantastic opportunity to showcase the innovation, entrepreneurial spirit and leadership that has put local companies at the forefront of the global race.
“We are determine to deliver a flagship business spectacle befitting the arrival of the world’s largest annual sporting event.”
Other events will promote exporting a tech matchmaking event, engineering and design seminars, a showcase of healthcare technologies.
Companies involved include PES, Beckett MIM, the AMRC, JRI and Fripp Design.
The festival will kick off on Thursday with the South Yorkshire Chamber’s Conference for Growth. It aims to allow delegates to understand the plans of the Local Enterprise Partnership.
