PIE in the sky baker Roger Topping flew his wares out of Doncaster - to meet a boost in European sales.

Roger’s firm The Topping Pie Company took more than 150 of its delicacies from Robin Hood Airport to Paphos in Cyprus.

Mr Topping, from Blaxton, said: “We’re delighted to be exporting our premium products to international suppliers. This is one of a few countries we are looking to do business with by making the most of their ex-pat clientele who love traditional British pies.

“It’s a partnership made in heaven with the airport and the Anglo European Express which deals with air cargo services at the hub - and as a local supplier I would recommend this to any business hoping to expand into the European market and beyond.”

The Topping Pie Company initially operated from a butcher’s shop in Doncaster Market and is now a big employer.

Mr Topping hopes to fly his products weekly on the Thomson flight from Robin Hood Airport.
