Young Sheffield entrepreneur Conrad Thornton has made it through to the final round of Barclays Bank Take One Small Step Competition and the chance of winning £50,000 to expand his eco-friendly advertising agency Green Street Media.

Conrad, 24, who recently graduated from Sheffield Hallam University, launched Green Street Media last year with the idea of etching adverts into the dirt on city pavements by blasting a high pressure water jet through a metal stencil.

The company has already won contracts from Sky TV and the Tower of London and run campaigns for eco-minded universities and colleges including Sheffield University and Dearne Valley College. Now it has been shortlisted for the Take One Small Step prize, but to win Conrad needs backing from the public who can cast their votes online by visiting http://www.greenstreetmedia.eu/ and clicking on the link to the contest.

Conrad, who won the Shell Grand Ideas Award and was a finalist in Sheffield Hallam University’s 2010 Enterprise Challenge, said: “Scooping the prize money would enable me to invest in new equipment and recruit more staff.

“It would help Green Street Media to fulfil its true potential. We have achieved a lot in a year, but with the support of the public, we can achieve so much more; local votes would be really appreciated.”
