SHOPPERS in Sheffield will be able to pick up goody bags containing eco-friendly gifts as part of an environmental awareness drive held by a bus company.
The bags will be given away by Stagecoach in Castle Square on May 23, and will be filled with practical, cost-saving household items.
The free gifts are being handed out during the firm’s green week. Stagecoach is in the third year of a five-year plan to reduce its carbon footprint. Measures include using low sulphur diesel with additives to reduce pollution and improve fuel consumption.
In Sheffield, the company has also invested £6 million in a fleet of 21 double deckers, which use 20,000 less gallons of diesel a year than older models.
