A BUSY road in Chesterfield was closed for 24 hours when a burst water main caused serious damage to the road and pavement.
The main in Boythorpe Road burst on Friday afternoon and Severn Trent Water had expected emergency repairs to take all weekend, but they were completed on Saturday night.
A spokesman for the water company said: “We are experiencing a number of bursts in the area at the moment, and we would ask our customers and anyone affected to bear with us.
“Our engineers are in the area and are working on restoring supplies to the properties affected as quickly as possible.
“We would like to sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this has caused.”
Diversions were put in place while engineers worked.
