Work has started on a major new Sheffield city centre student apartment development – to be built from eye-catching black brick.

The £5 million seven-storey project at the junction of Rockingham Street and Portobello Road will house more than 100 student beds.

“The construction work is being carried out by a local contractor and that means bringing more work into the local economy, which is something we always aim to achieve in all our projects,” said David Cross, managing director of architectural agency Coda Studios whose team designed the structure.
