Big-hearted stylists invited ladies touched by cancer to sit back, relax and enjoy a day of blissful pampering.
Managers of The Blow at Creator on West Street, Sheffield, asked people to nominate patients and survivors of cancer, as well as supporters and carers of those with the illness, to receive a VIP experience at the salon.
Twenty ladies were selected for the special treatment, which included hair styling by the salon’s top hairdressers, a makeover by make-up artist Pacha Marshall, and mini manicures by a nail technician.
The day of indulgence was made complete by pink cupcakes, fizz and cocktails.
Stylist Bryony Higginbotham said: “All of us at the salon have been touched by cancer in one way or another and regularly donate to charities that support patients, but we wanted to do something more personal.
“As October was Cancer Awareness Month we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to invite some people who have been affected by the illness into the salon for some pampering.
“We had a wonderful mix of people, from cancer patients and survivors, to daughters who are supporting their mums through the illness and nurses from Weston Park and St Luke’s Hospice.”
As part of the pamper day, the special guests experienced the salon’s new blow dry bar, The Blow, were stylists recreate top hair trends from the fashion catwalks, encouraging ladies to change their locks with the season, just as they change their clothes.
“The day brought a tear to my eye,” said Bryony. “After their treatments the ladies were all sitting round in reception talking and laughing - some of them even swapped numbers so they could meet up again.
“We also collected funds for cancer charities.
“The whole event was brilliant. We certainly plan to do it again and hopefully on an even bigger scale.”
