Estate agent Blundells is expanding its residential lettings operations by taking over Spencers residential lettings office on Ecclesall Road.
The merger of the two businesses, which both became part of nationwide agency Countrywide earlier this year, is part of a strategic plan for Blundells to provide a more locally based lettings service with expert staff to provide advice in its branches.
Staff currently employed by Spencers will continue to work in the Ecclesall Road office and will be employed by Blundells.
The rebranding of Spencers brings the total number of Blundells branches across Sheffield and North Derbyshire to 14.
Blundells lettings director Peter Lee said: “We are delighted to be beginning the process of expanding the Blundells brand across both the sales and lettings markets.
“The rental market in Sheffield is still booming. We are continuing to see an increase in demand from tenants for rental accommodation - specifically in the city centre - with properties being snapped up in an average of three days with up to five tenants vying for each available property, which highlights the appetite.
“The key focus for this particular branch will remain the rental market, with the office in a prime spot on Sheffield’s upmarket Ecclesall Road and in the heart of a thriving rental market of landlords, tenants and students providing a strong footfall.”
Countrywide acquired family run Sheffield estate agency Spencers’ property management arm in May and went on to acquire Blundells, the region’s most successful estate agents, a couple of months later.
