Three Sheffield councillors are supporting a retail development at an old bingo hall.

Developers are consulting on plan to convert the former Mecca Bingo, off Langsett Road, into shops including an Aldi and Home Bargains, creating at least 50 jobs.

Couns Neale Gibson, Ben Curran and Nikki Sharpe, Labour members for Walkley, are in favour of the scheme.

Coun Gibson said: “Any development which helps bring jobs to Walkley is welcome.”

Diane Leek, former Lib Dem member for the area, is worried about the impact on small businesses in the area.
