On the eve of MADE: The Entrepreneur Festival, business leaders will launch the Big Investment Project at a special event at Millennium Galleries today.
The region’s four Chambers of Commerce have joined forces to welcome proposals for “transformational” schemes in Sheffield City Region big enough - up to £75m - to create “significant” numbers of private sector jobs.
And they say they have access to fund-holders looking for a good opportunity.
Jill Thomas, junior vice president of Sheffield Chamber, is among leading figures who will sit on an evaluation board.
She said: “The Chambers have access to fund-holders waiting to invest but who quite simply do not have the projects to invest in.
“We want to change that by providing specialist help to turn large, transformational projects ideas into reality.”
Proposals will be submitted to a group of mainly London-based investment fund managers who are set to visit the region early next year.
The project is endorsed by Lord Bilamoria of Cobra Beer, Lord Wolfson of NEXT and Keith Morgan.
