Levels of metal theft have fallen dramatically in recent months, according to the Sheffield-based Business Crime Reduction Centre.
The centre puts the reduction down to the efforts of the police and changes in legislation. However, it says high scrap prices mean virtually any metal remains a tempting target for thieves. As a result, it is staging a free event to explain new legislation and the latest crime prevention tactics to scrap dealers, manufacturers, metal stockholders, utility and telecommunications companies and other businesses that use metals.
The event will take place at Rotherham’s New York Stadium this Friday, October 18. To register call: 0114 275 1283 or visit: www.bcrc-uk.org/events.
