Barnsley looks to China link

Have your say

BUSINESSMEN and women in Barnsley came together to find out how they can benefit from the town’s historic link to China.

The town’s Chamber of Commerce held an event which examined how to boost the local economy using the heritage of Barnsley-born Christian missionary James Hudson Taylor, who became a national hero in the Asian country in the 19th century.

The event saw businesses engage with a range of speakers, expert in areas of Chinese culture, language, business ethics and education, and discuss the effect a tourist boom would have both on the town and the businesses within it.
