THE St Luke’s Hospice chain of charity shops is beating the High Street slump with another record-breaking year of sales success.

The award-winning shops have posted a year-end net profit 24 per cent greater than last year’s figure.

And with the tenth hospice shop having just opened in Bellhouse Road at Firth Park, indications are the year ahead will be even more profitable.

“We are always confident that our shops offer the best value and these latest figures show clearly our customers feel the same,” said hospice retail development manager Darren Sterling.

Plans are now under way for a refurbishment of the St Luke’s shop in Crookes, which will include a specialist furniture outlet.

And all the shops are set to launch a Gift Aid scheme for donations of stock, meaning a tax relief boost to St Luke’s.
