FIVE Sheffield sixth formers have started work on a six week paid internship at the local offices of a major bank.
The teenagers from Longley Park Sixth Form College are working at Santander’s Carbrook House office, as part of a work experience opportunity which is part of the nationwide Career Academy programme.
This year six Santander offices are linked with a Career Academy school or college locally, with 32 students undertaking an internship with the bank.
Career Academies UK is a charity that leads and supports employers, schools and colleges working together to raise the aspirations of 16 to 19-year-olds.
In total 120 UK schools and colleges, predominantly in urban areas of social need, are involved in the programme around the country.
