Novice market traders James and Kate Parkin have cooked up the perfect recipe for success after making their mark in a national competition… just months after they launched their first business.
The couple from Totley run a cake baking accessory business, Make or Bake, in the new Sheffield Market.
And they were delighted to be runners up in the National Market Traders Federation annual awards.
Make or Bake was nominated in the First Pitch category, aimed specifically at encouraging the development of new market businesses and traders.
“We started trading last May on an eight foot table on Chesterfield and Bakewell market!” James said. “We then applied for a stall in the new Moor Market and only found out we got in the week before it opened.
“After two months of trading we expanded into a larger unit and have now doubled in size. Business is getting busier every week now and we are looking forward to further expansion in the months ahead.”
