FLETCHERS, the Sheffield-based bakery group, has won a top accolade at the Own Label Food and Drink Awards, organised by industry magazine, The Grocer.

The Wadsley Bridge company won a gold award in the category for traditional bakery products for the English muffins that it makes for supermarket group Tesco, beating off entries on behalf of Morrison’s, Asda and Sainsbury’s.

Fletchers’ managing director Stephen Holding said: “This is an important win for Fletchers as the award signifies a seal of approval endorsed by shoppers and industry experts alike.

“This success is the result of the hard work and dedication put in by the team at Fletchers.”

Fletchers was awarded a near-perfect overall score of 49 and an above average rating of 16 for ‘innovation and relevance’ in the contest, designed to reward the most outstanding products in the own-label category.
