Independent retail centre catering specialist the Massarella Catering Group has secured backing from Barclays Bank for its growth plans.

Massarella, based in Laughton, Rotherham, provides catering services in shopping centres, department stores, garden centres and retail and leisure outlets.

Managing director Mark Massarella said: “Barclays Corporate has been very supportive of our requirements and plays an integral part in our plans for future growth.

“With the new banking relationship in place, we are now able to focus on further growth plans. The newly arranged sales finance will be a massive boost for taking advantage of the opportunities the current climate presents and the Group continues to expand at pace.”

Barclays corporate relationship director Alastair Watson said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to support this forward thinking and ambitious South Yorkshire based business bring their aspirations to fruition.

“Barclays is committed to supporting local businesses and we wish the management team every success for the future.”

Massarella Catering Group recently suffered a temporary setback with the demise of T J Hughes, but has seen an increase in business elsewhere.

The group has more than 150 sites serving 22 million people each year.

In addition to operating sites in shopping centres, Massarella has also developed concessions in stores such as House of Fraser and Wilkinson.
