The Peak District National Park Authority has said a fond farewell to three people said to have played a leading role in shaping the national park as it is today.

John Lomas, director of land use policy, above right, has retired after a 38-year career in conservation and planning, while authority members Christopher Pennell and Pauline Beswick have come to the end of their appointments.

Tony Favell, authority chairman, said: “We owe a tremendous debt to these people who share a passion for the park and care deeply about protecting its special qualities.”
