Soundproofing specialist TMAT Acoustic Technologies is celebrating smashing its own growth targets after making a record start to the year.
The Chesterfield firm, that makes soundproofing and vibration baffling for excavators and tractors notched up sales of close to £2 million in January and February.
TMAT says that it beat its own target for 10 per cent sales growth by a further 10 per cent each month despite stagnation affecting markets.
The Holmewood Industrial Park-based, which supplies companies like Case, New Holland Tractors, JCB, and Volvo, says it has also received an enquiry from an original equipment manufacturer it has not previously supplied. TMAT currently has a sales pipeline worth around £4.5million and recently announced plans to open a factory in Brazil.
The company is hoping to capitalise on Brazil’s plans to overhaul its infrastructure before the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympics.
Brazil plans to undertake more than 12,250 projects involving roads, ports, airports and power plants before 2016.
The Brazilian government wants products sourced locally, rather than shipped in from abroad and, with all the construction equipment that will be needed, TMAT sees that as a major encouragement for opening a factory.
TMAT says it will retain engineering design and intellectual property at its Chesterfield site and believes that opportunities in Brazil could create further UK jobs.
