A METALWORK student from Sheffield Hallam University has received an award from the city’s Assay Master for her innovative cutlery designs, featured in the University’s Creative Spark exhibition.
Assay master Ashley Carson gave metalwork and jewellery student Sarah Pasley the ‘Brightest Spark’ award for the high quality of her designs and her use of traditional metalworking skills.
Ashley said: “I’m really impressed with the work that Sarah’s done, and the craftsmanship that she’s put into it. The forging is fantastic, but she’s also put a lot of thought into the design. With the heritage of cutlery in Sheffield, I’m always looking for something that reflects the industry. It’s been very difficult this year to choose an outright winner.”
Senior lecturer Chris Knight said: “Sarah has worked immensely hard and it has been an absolute pleasure for all the staff to have taught her.”
