Artwork at a key gateway to Chesterfield town centre is set to be installed.

Delivery of the artwork at Hornsbridge Island, which will be visible by people entering the town from the M1 or passing on the train, will take place on Wednesday at 6am.

The artwork, entitled ‘Growth’, has been designed by Derbyshire artist Melanie Jackson, featuring a cog integrated into the landscape with a flower rising out of the centre. The display aims to highlight the area’s industrial heritage.

Coun Terry Gilby, Chesterfield Council deputy leader and executive member for planning, said: “After weeks of preparation work, we’re excited the sculpture for Hornsbridge Island is about to be delivered. Hornsbridge Island is a key location for people entering Chesterfield and we’re confident this will act as a focal point to welcome people to the town centre.”
