A DRIVE to boost private industry has created 200 apprenticeship placements in just six months in Derbyshire.

The county council’s Apprenticeship Grant for Employers programme was launched January, offering grants of £2,500 to support businesses with fewer than 50 employees to take on apprentices.

Already the authority, which is also creating 500 positions in its own workforce, has approved all 200 grants.
