An American-themed restaurant has announced plans to open at a £50m retail park in Stocksbridge creating up to 20 jobs.

NYC Bar and Grill is set to open the Fox Valley Shopping Centre with funding from Barclays.

It will be the company’s third outlet after it launched in Bawtry in 2013, followed by a site in Doncaster. Turnover for the current year is expected to exceed £700,000 and the firm employs 38.

Founder Lee Edwards said he was already thinking about expanding across Yorkshire.

He added: “Launching my own business has been so exciting for me and I can’t wait to open the doors at Fox Valley. Barclays has supported the growth plans and we are already looking to take the brand to other cities across Yorkshire. The new site will create around twenty jobs locally and our focus on great quality food and first class customer service seems to be a real winner with our customers.”

James Pemberton, of Barclays, said: “It’s great to be able to support a local business.

Fox Valley is set to officially open on Thursday featuring the largest Aldi in the region. Other stores due to open at the same time include Pets at Home, Regatta, Full Gas Bikes and the Cornish fashion and homewares brand Seasalt as well as food and drink from Ponti’s Italian Kitchen and the Central Bean coffee shop.

Edinburgh Woollen Mill will open on June 23, and the new store will also house a Peacocks and Ponden Mills, creating a total of 17 jobs.

Work is also underway on Champley’s Shoes and Sorelle Jewellers. A second phase of store openings will follow in September when department store Sandersons will open as well as M&Co and Next.
