Nigerian officials have visited Sheffield for advice on how to successfully run a public transport system.
South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive hosted 15 representatives from the African country and its biggest city, Lagos.
The visitors also met bosses from bus companies First and Stagecoach.
SYPTE deputy interim director general David Young said: “We and the operators work hard to ensure South Yorkshire benefits from an excellent public transport system.
“We are only too happy to share our good practice with worldwide business leaders.
“Locally we have a track record for securing and delivering improvements to public transport services.
“For example the Sheffield Bus Partnership has seen a noticeable growth in adult fare paying passengers, and we look forward to investment continuing in the coming years.”
