Plans for a new social housing development are set to be given the go-ahead today.

Sheffield Council’s planning committee is expected to approve proposals to build 34 properties offering affordable housing, 25 per cent of which will be specially adapted for disabled people, in Parson Cross.

The site on Buchanan Crescent will be managed by Great Places Housing Group, which has promised in its proposals to offer properties with ‘affordable social rent’.

Planning officer Eleanor Ridge said: “The scheme sufficiently meets the council’s policies and will provide 100 per cent affordable housing.

“The development will not meet the full obligations required for open space or education, but there are benefits considered to justify, on balance, a recommendation for approval.”
