Barnsley-based door manufacturer Masonite International Corporation has bought the UK’s largest composite door company.

The firm, which operates from its 400,000 sq foot factory just off the M1, has taken over Nottinghamshire-based Door-Stop International.

Masonite is a leading manufacturer of interior and exterior doors for domestic and commercial markets and the acquisition is set to add a new string to its bow.

Robin Baker, general manager for Masonite UK, said: “The UK composite door market is an exciting place to be.

“Acquiring Door-Stop and its impressive online business model places Masonite into this market and positions us for further growth.

“Not yet six years old, Door-Stop is a young company with noteworthy potential. It’s a significant addition to Masonite’s portfolio.”

Nick Dutton, of Door-Stop, said: “Masonite’s acquisition is an exciting new chapter. Door-Stop customers will benefit from Masonite’s immense knowledge, resources and experience, particularly in product development and innovation. Masonite is a company that has doors at the heart of its culture, so I am delighted that Door-Stop is joining the Masonite family.”
