Major groundworks are under way at South Yorkshire’s Advanced Manufacturing Park to open up access to the new Enterprise Zone site offering tax incentives, relaxed planning rules and superfast broadband connections.
UK Coal subsidiary Harworth Estates has started work on a new access road and key infrastructure developments.
The Enterprise Zone is intended to attract investment to the Sheffield City Region and is part of a Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership initiative to create a worldwide hub for modern manufacturing and technology businesses.
Sheffield City Region LEP chairman James Newman said: “I am pleased to see that work is under way at AMP Waverley and the LEP fully supports the construction as it gathers momentum at this important Enterprise Zone site.
“It is clear that the Sheffield City Region has the number one UK Enterprise Zone for modern manufacturing and technology and I look forward to welcoming some major investors over the coming year.”
Harworth Estates development manager Duncan Armstrong-Payne said: “There is a real buzz in the air at the AMP around the construction of this important road. It is great to see people working on the site.”
