THE Odeon cinema on Arundel Gate will make movie history on Wednesday - when a two-year company-wide rollout of state-of-the-art digital equipment is completed in Sheffield.
Digital 8000 HD technology has been fitted to all 890 screens at every one of Odeon’s 113 sites in the UK and Ireland.
The new digital wizardry means crisper, clearer, better movie viewing for film fanatics.
On Wednesday the last one of the company’s screens, in Sheffield, will switch over - bringing to an end Odeon’s 23-month conversion programme.
And to celebrate the switch - and to mark the completion of the digital rollout - the chain’s chief executive Rupert Gavin and chief operating officer Roger Harris will visit Sheffield on Wednesday to join manager David Hughes to welcome the arrival of the cinema’s final digital projector.
The installation will be followed by a short presentation and showreel, providing an opportunity for staff to witness the digital technology first-hand.
