Yorkshire Water has invested in a new digital communications network with the help of Ntl:Telewest Business.
The new network is designed to ensure that a problem at one of its 130 sites, spread across 6,000 square miles, does not have an impact on information being transmitted from other sites.

Before the new system was installed, sites were "daisy-chained" together, which meant neighbouring sites could be hit if one site went down. The new network provides a secure, flexible and scalable infrastructure for the company's voice and data traffic and has allowed the company to adopt a new approach to communications management.
