AN innovative personal security device, developed by a Dinnington firm, has won coveted Secured by Design approval from the Association of Chief Police Officers.
Connexion2 gained approval for its Identicom range of devices for protecting people working by themselves.
Identicom devices look like normal name badges, but incorporate mobile communications technology that allows staff working on their own to r
aise an alarm if they are threatened.
The badge transmits a signal which tells security staff exactly where the worker is and lets them listen to and record what is happening with such clarity that it can be used in the courts in evidence.

The Secured by Design scheme aims to reduce crime through effective design and approval is increasingly becoming a requirement for companies bidding to win tenders for contracts with some security implications.
"Gaining Secured by Design approval demonstrates our commitment to safety and sustainability and provides our valued customers with reassurance," said MD Craig Swallow.
Identicom is already being used by a wide range of employers including the NHS, local authorities, housing associations, charities, estate agents, and financial sector.
