New man to head finances

Opportunity Group, the Sheffield-based diversified engineering business, is targeting further expansion after appointing restructuring expert Adrian Jones as financial director.
Mr Jones (36), a chartered accountant from Mansfield, will spearhead the financial consolidation of the £20 million group companies, which comprises Seal Engineering, Turton Springs, Locum Fine Steels, Taylor and Jones and Lanserve.

His appointmen
t will enable group founder and chief executive, Andrew Eyre, to take a more strategic role, concentrating on growth and acquisition plans.

Adrian Jones started his business career in marketing with pharmacy group Boots, became a chartered accountant in the audit division of international firm Arthur Andersen and moved into industry as group accountant for the £150 million multinational Cork International, where he helped to refinance the group.

He then became financial controller of a £30 million-a-year Danish-owned food packaging company and ended up running the factory while co-ordinating its restructuring.

Mr Jones moved to Sheffield to develop the finance and administration department of a company with three UK production sites and plans for significant growth, coordinating the acquisition of three businesses in 12 months and amalgamating their finance operations.
