A new business qualification, aimed at budding team leaders and managers in South Yorkshire, has been unveiled by Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Sheffield Hallam University.
The two organisations have teamed up with Foundation Degree Forward, the Government-backed national body that supports the development and validation of Foundation degrees, to create the region's first Leadership and Management Foundation Degree.
The degree is aimed at managers who may have been promoted from the shop floor or have had neither the opportunity or, necessarily, the qualifications to go to university or college.
The hope is that it will help to plug a skills gap among middle and senior managers across the region.

The course is designed to be part time and is split into two 18 month stages, allowing managers to take time out from their studies after completing the first stage.
Each stage involves a series of modules, combining two days of workshops at Hallam University followed by an assessment, which could be based on a project within the workplace.
Successful students will be awarded a Foundation Degree in Leadership and Management, which would count towards a full first degree.
Sheffield Chamber and Hallam University hope to recruit around 15 managers for the first course, which starts this summer, and to increase this in the future.
