From water to alcopops, oil extraction to meteorology and flood prevention to radio broadcasts – the market for Eckington-based CSE Global UK's technology and skills is huge.
The company also offers a broad range of services in each sector, spanning everything from initial consultancy to design, integration, installation and maintenance support.

The company has become the leading supplier of controls for water distribution systems in the UK, working for companies such as Welsh Water, Wessex, Southern and Severn Trent, in addition to exporting water distribution control systems to countries like Kuwait.

Thanks to CSE Global UK's technology, Welsh Water is now able to run the whole of its network from one control room with six operators, instead of three control rooms, each with 12 operators.

Severn Trent has also led the way, with CSE Global UK's help, in being able to control its massive region seamlessly from one centre.

Water isn't the only utility making use of the firm's technology. Gas distribution across the UK is controlled by the firm's systems, as is most of the gas distribution for Syria.

Meanwhile, CSE Global UK also supplies critical safety systems for the oil and gas extraction industries, capable of shutting production systems down if they detect gas leaks or a fire, in addition to monitoring pipeline production, including the Zakhum bulk storage facility in Abu Dhabi.

Further down the energy supply chain, the firm's technology is used in control and safety systems for power stations.

On the environmental front, the company's systems monitor river levels and other data, which is fed into the Environment Agency's flood prediction systems and gather wind speed, cloud, rainfall, temperature, humidity and other data for the Meteorological Office.

"We are only the messenger that brings the information," managing director Alan Stubbs stresses, keen to avoid any responsibility predictions of "barbecue summers."

CSE Global UK is the messenger in more ways than one.

Its systems monitor and automatically control all the BBC's UK transmitters as well its World Service transmitters in Oman, Thailand and on Ascension Island and the company is also working with ITV and Irish broadcaster, RTE.

Even alcopops and tea are produced with the help of CSE Global UK technology.

Drinks manufacturer Diageo uses the firm's process control technology to label, pick and pack its alcopops.

Meanwhile, at Tetley, CSE Global UK's technology weighs the different teas when they arrive, blends them automatically, according to the instructions of the tasters and sends then controls the packaging.

And, although steel is no longer the staple business it once was, the company's claim that existing clients seldom go elsewhere is demonstrated by a recent new order from Corus's Port Talbot plant in South Wales.
