International architects, designers and engineers Building Design Partnership have come up with the perfect advertisement for their Sheffield operation.
The company has become the first occupier of the 62,000 sq ft Northbank development on Blonk Street, which BDP itself designed, and says it is planning for expansion.

BDP is moving its 100 Sheffield staff from Carver Street to the 12,000 sq ft top floor of Northbank, which was developed by Priority Sites as part of the Wicker regeneration programme and acquired in 2007 by the Kenmore Property Group.

David Clarke, managing director of BDP's Sheffield office, said: “We are delighted to be the first occupiers of this superb development, which will create a fantastic working environment for our Sheffield-based staff.

“We currently employ around 100 people here but are looking to recruit more architectural staff. Both as designers involved in the ongoing renaissance of Sheffield, and as a growing business in our own right, BDP is proud to make this commitment to the city.”

David Fletcher, business investment director for city development company, Creative Sheffield, added: "BDP’s decision to relocate its Sheffield office in the new Northbank development is both a sign of its commitment to Sheffield and a major boost to the Wicker/Castlegate part of the city. “BDP is a high quality employer and exactly the type of business we wish to see occupy these Grade A premises. We look forward to seeing other businesses follow in BDP's footsteps."

BDP has around 1,200 people in the UK, Ireland, Singapore and France. The company is the master planner for Sevenstone, Sheffield’s new retail quarter, and is designing new buildings within the scheme.

Other prestigious schemes that the company has been involved in include the White Rose Centre in Leeds, Ice Sheffield, the Government’s Building Schools for the Future programme and the new Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

The remaining 50,000 sq ft of accommodation in Northbank is available in suites from 5,000 sq ft up and is being marketed by the Sheffield office of Knight Frank and Savills’ Leeds office.
