Business failures in Yorkshire have increased by more than a fifth over the last 12 months, according to global information services company Experian.
However, Yorkshire fared better than the East Midlands and Northern Ireland, where failures increased by more than a half, and the North West, North East and East Anglia, where they rose by between 22 and 25 per cent.

What do you think? Post your comments below.

Tony Pullen, managing director of Experian's Business Information division, said: "These figures are hugely significant, highlighting the impact the continued credit crunch is having on businesses across the UK.

"It's the first overall increase in failures that we've seen for 12 months and demonstrates the nervousness there is in the economy."
