Eland Cables has become one of the first electrical cable companies to meet the international standard for environmental management, ISO 14001.
The company gained accreditation for its sites in Doncaster and London as part of its commitment to minimising environmental impact.

Managing director Philip Brown said: "We are proud to be one of a few companies in the UK cable industry to hold this accreditation and minimising our impact on the environment will continue to be a focus as the company grows."

Eland Cables has achieved a major reduction in the amount of waste it sends to landfill, as well as a substantial reduction in wrapping due to investment in new machinery.

The company recycles all scrap cable and wood, uses plywood reels made from sustainable sources and reuses wooden drums.

Eland has plans to reduce energy consumption, further increasing recycling and improve the environmental awareness of its employees.
