The government has announced a £90m plan to speed up internet access on trains in England and Wales, including in South Yorkshire.
Trains using certain routes to London and services into Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield, are expected to benefit.
It is hoped at the busiest times passengers will be able to connect to wi-fi at least 10 times faster.
The new service will be free but could take three or four years to be implemented.
Transport secretary, Patrick McLoughlin, said having internet access disrupted was ‘frustrating’.
