Property groups Lend Lease and Manor have forged a £240 million partnership to build student accommodation in Sheffield and other parts of the UK.

The initiative involves developing a new concept of hotel-style accommodation, managed by Qdos Student Homes.

Each new development will feature ensuite study bedrooms, 24-hour security, Wifi and range of onsite amenities including, gym, coffee shop and drop-off laundry services

In Sheffield, the partners plan to spend £54 million on a development on Summerfield Street, close to Ecclesall Road with 900 study bedrooms and three restaurants.

Qdos will provide banking facilities and students will also be able to access a new social network, Qdos.me, enabling them to connect online with friends and family, study groups, tutors and future employers.

The Lend Lease Manor partnership also plans to build a further 3,500 units in Birmingham, Hull, Manchester and Leeds.

William Addy, chairman of Manor Property Group, said: “Qdos Student Homes will operate the developments and aim to set a new benchmark in student living.

“By combining first class accommodation and on site facilities as well as a student focused social network, this new standard will be a refreshing and welcome change. Qdos will establish quality customer service for both undergraduates and graduates.

“Our objective may well revolutionise the student living experience with up to 40,000 units at 70 sites nationwide between now and 2020.

“Given the scale of our plans, partnering with Lend Lease was the logical step to ensure the delivery of this exceptional project.”
