Barnsley light-heavyweight Rob Burton was always going to have his work cut out when he went in with local favourite Phil Goodwin at Hull City Hall.
Goodwin, 28, from nearby St Ann's, who by day works for a company which makes caravans, had won all but one of his four pro bouts, having joined the paid ranks just over a year ago.
He added to that tally by picking up a 60-56 six-round points victory, though the scoreline fails to fully reflect Burton's contribution.
Meanwhile, Oughtibridge bantamweight Ross Burkinshaw is still on cloud nine after returning from injury and knocking out Leeds opponent Mike Holloway at Sheffield's Don Valley.
A powerful upper cut finished the fight in the first round, and the Sheffield soldier says that result alone will put him back on the title trail.
