SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY boss Brian Laws congratulated his side for retaining an impressive and unbeaten pre-season tonight after their emphatic 4-1 win over MK Dons.
Laws admitted his men had been "all at sea" against the Dons in the first 15 minutes but picked up well to win with a flourish.
He had special words of praise for the leadership shown by Akpo Sodje who ws back in action, at the Stadium MK; the former Port Vale player who has been out injured since January.
League One side Dons have been ordered to display " winning style" under new manager former Chelsea midfield Roberto di Matteo.
But that came undone as oals from Etienne Esajas, Jermaine Johnson and a brace from Deon Burton overturned an early Dons lead from Florian Sturm.
Laws said his strikers could not "buy a goal" last year - but were now all performing well in a side which had a clear competitive instinct.
The MK pitch has just been widened to 70m to give space for a flowing game of passing football but Wednesday were fitter and well-drilled.
Owls: Grant, Beevers, Wood (c), Spurr, Hinds, Watson, O'Connor, McAllister, Esajas, Burton, Sodje.

League One Scunny who had drawn previously with Doncaster Rovers, had led for much of the game through Kenny Milne's header, but goals from Reuben Reid and Ryan Taylor sealed the success for Mark Robins' team.
HULL eased to a 3-0 victory at Chesterfield with goals from Geovanni, Dean Windass and Caleb Folan.
Peter Halmosi, a £2million signing from Plymouth last week, started the game but it was another newcomer in the form of Brazilian Geovanni who opened the scoring from close range on the half hour.
Halmosi created the second just before half-time when he crossed for veteran striker Windass to tap in with Folan heading home the third in the 78th minute.
