FOR the majority of Sheffield United's first team squad, Monday night's pre-season friendly against Ferencvaros in Budapest was a chance to gently ease back in the rigours of 90 minutes of football.
For Danny Webber, however, the game meant much more.
Webber, missing for over six months with a torn knee cartilage injury, scored twice on his first game in 2008 before being substituted at half-time for Billy Sharp, who went on to add United's third.
"The goals were a boost, but to be honest it was nice just to be playing again," Webber said.
"I have never doubted my ability, but it was good to see the chances hit the net when they dropped to me."
Webber wasted no time making up for his long-term absence, putting United 1-0 up inside two minutes.
He then added a second less than 10 minutes later - his first goals for United since netting the winner away at Leicester City last October, sealing their first away win for almost a year.
"It was always the plan to play half a game," Manchester-born Webber added.
"There's still a long way to go on the road to full recovery.
"My legs felt quite heavy after the game.
"There is still a lot of training before we kick off against Birmingham City, and the main aim for everyone is to peak then."
