SHEFFIELD UNIVERSITY boffins tasked to test the breaking strength of ice hockey sticks knew exactly who to use as a guinea pig.
They took this video at iceSheffield of Steelers' Canadian defenceman Randy Dagenais in full slap shot mode.
Dagenais is a student himself at the university; he and team-mate Steve Munn are sitting an MBA course there.
The research is being carried out by the University's Polymer Centre - where the video is deemed "highly interesting from a technical point of view."
Students are collecting details on "stick and puck speeds, contact times and stick bending."
Meanwhile Steelers' spokesman Dave Simms joked: "That was an expensive shot...Randy is normally much more accurate than that!"
