INTRUDERS armed with a gun and a baseball bat burst into a house in South Yorkshire - and then realised they had got the wrong house.
The men, who both wore stockings to mask their faces, stormed into the house off Barnsley Road, Cudworth, one of them carrying a shotgun and the other armed with a wooden bat.

One of the thugs pointed the gun at the male occupant and ordered to h
im to take them into his cellar.

Police said the man "feared for his safety" and did as he was told - but once in the cellar the gunman said he had the wrong house, apologised and fled with his accomplice.

They were last seen running along Bloemfontein Street, towards Pontefract Road.

The gunman was white, around 6ft 2in, of stocky or muscular build, clean shaven, with a round face and a local accent. He wore a dark navy blue Nike tracksuit top with a hood over his head, dark jeans and dark trainers.

The other man was white, around 6ft 4in, also of stocky or muscular build, with mousy hair and a local accent.

He wore a white, blue and red stripy scarf covering the lower half of his face and a light blue fleece top with the hood up.

Anyone with information about the incident at 11.30pm on Tuesday should call Barnsley Police on 01226 736030 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

At least they said sorry! Sound like decent criminals - they could have robbed the innocent bloke for all he had. Instead they probably gallivanted off to go rob from fellow criminals.

now if the police had any sense they would search the houses on that street, or keep an eye out for any suspicious behaviour, because now people know that something is going on in on the houses in that area.

if the criminals responsible had half an ounce of sense (from what i read above that is debatable) they would know the police will be keeping watch so stay well away! so you'd think!
