A DEVELOPER has commissioned a survey to ask South Yorkshire residents what they would like to see happen on a derelict site.
Claycliffe Property Develop-ment Ltd is looking to develop the site in Barugh Green, near Barnsley.

The former petrol station and garden centre at the corner of Barugh Green and Claycliffe Roads, near the Cherry Tree pub, has been empty and dereli
ct for years and is increasingly a focus for anti-social behaviour.

Over the past 10 years there have been several proposals to redevelop the site, but none have come to fruition.

Claycliffe development director Doug Slater said: "It is a significant step for a developer to seek local opinion in this way, prior to submitting a planning application, but with such a long and plotted history we felt it would be helpful to canvass local views.

"The site has been an eyesore for a long time and if it is to be developed at last it seems sensible to gather a sample of opinions from those living nearby."
