Woman faces murder trial

A WOMAN accused of murdering her lover in Barnsley has appeared at Sheffield Crown Court.
Beverley McManus, aged 47, of Hall Street, Hoyland, is accused of murdering 50-year-old Margaret Desmond, of the same address.

A post mortem revealed Ms Desmond had been strangled at the couple's home on August 12.

McManus's trial was fixed for January 5 2009 and she was remanded in custody.
