TEA for two! A youngster enjoyed an afternoon brew with fantasy character Alice in Wonderland when she went along to a Mad Hatter's tea party at Wentworth Castle gardens.
Sophie Johnson, aged six, from Darton, was delighted to meet the star of Lewis Carroll classic at the event staged to promote outdoor theatre at the venue.

Next month the nationally acclaimed Chapterhouse Theatre Company will put on two magical performances at Wentworth Castle Gardens.

William Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' will be performed on June 20, followed by 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' on June 26.

Both performances take place inside Stainborough Castle - one of the largest Gothic follies in the country.

Paul Johnson of Wentworth Castle Trust said: "We are planning something special for the performance of Alice in Wonderland and would like everyone to come dressed as their favourite character and then join in with the fancy dress parade during the interval."

The Gardens will be open early on both nights to allow visitors to enjoy a picnic in the grounds before the performances start
