A BARNSLEY man has passed his initial training to become a Royal Navy officer.
Matt Williams, from Elsecar, has successfully completed the initial phase of officer training at the Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, in his bid to become a Logistics Officer.
Matt, aged 22, a former pupil of Wath Comprehensive, joined th
e Navy in September after graduating from Birmingham University with a degree in history and politics.
As part of his training Matt spent two months at sea on board destroyer HMS Exeter which was operating in the Mediterranean.
