A HIGH-flying South Yorkshire man is celebrating after graduating from a prestigious Royal Air Force college.
Richard Mills, aged 31, from Barnsley, graduated with distinction as a flying officer after completing his initial officer training course at RAF College Cranwell. Richard, whose parents John and Susan still live in Barnsley, had been a pupil at Penistone Grammar School before joining the Army.

After serving as an army aircraft technician, he joined the RAF last November and will soon begin his professional training with the supply branch.

Richard, whose brother Adam is also in the RAF and now serves as a survival equipment fitter at RAF Coningsby, said: "I am thrilled to have been awarded a commission in the RAF and am looking forward to serving overseas."

He is a keen sportsman, and enjoys squash, volleyball, cycling and parachuting.

He has been a gliding instructor for the past 13 years.
