Around 170 homes on Station Road, Midland Road, Oakworth Avenue and Church Street in Royston were hit after the power failed at 2.30pm on Friday.
Engineers worked round the clock to try to restore power and by Saturday afternoon more than 100 had been re-connected.
But residents in the rest of the properties were told they would only be reconnected once 250 metres of new underground cable was laid.
